Rajasthan Notifies Code on Wages (Rajasthan) Rules, 2026
2026-08-12 · Labour Department, Government of Rajasthan
The Government of Rajasthan has notified the Code on Wages (Rajasthan) Rules, 2026, exercising powers under section 67 of the Code on Wages, 2019 (Central Act No. 29 of 2019). These rules prescribe the manner of calculating minimum wages based on criteria including calorie intake, clothing, housing, fuel, and education expenditure for a standard working-class family of four. The rules establish working hours, overtime provisions, rest days, and wage payment timelines, specifying that employees shall not work more than forty-eight hours per week, with provisions for five-day or six-day working weeks. Employers must maintain registers in prescribed formats (Forms I to X), issue wage slips, and display notices of minimum wage rates and working conditions in Hindi, English, and local language. The rules constitute a State Advisory Board with equal representation from employers and employees, appoint authorities for adjudication of wage claims, and provide mechanisms for appeal, composition of offences, and dealing with undisbursed wages. A technical committee is established to categorize occupations into unskilled, semi-skilled, skilled, and highly skilled categories, with a detailed schedule provided. The rules repeal seven existing Rajasthan rules on payment of wages and minimum wages, while preserving pending proceedings and rights accrued under the repealed rules.
